The Champions of “Say YES to Change” Project, “Oxford International School and Viqarunnisa Noon School teams went to Bhangnahati Village at Sreepur, Gazipur, to make the students of Bhangnahati Rahmania Kamil Madrasa, Bhangnahati Balika Dakhil Madarasa and the locals aware about Democracy, Human Rights, Food Safety & Security and Good Hygiene Practice. It was an assembly of about 150 people where these trained students spread the knowledge among the villagers they have gained from the three days “Say YES to Change” workshop beforehand. The aforementioned Madrasa students do not get enough opportunities and exposure like the students of the City do.
The number of male students exceed the number of female in this village, which depicts the necessity of awareness against gender discrimination. The OIS and VNS students encouraged women empowerment, made them aware about their rights, and access to equal opportunities for girls and boys. The Madrasa students were inspired to see the city kids of their same age perform in leadership roles and were motivated to engage themselves in community service. The attendees also learnt about the proper hand washing technique and its significance and some of them practically performed the steps. Popular TV Channel ATN Bangla covered the event.
